Reliance Industries’ digital and telecom subsidiary, Jio Platforms, is attracting substantial investor interest ahead of its planned stock market debut, with demand indications reportedly reaching ₹2.5 lakh crore. Singapore’s GIC, Norway’s Norges Bank Investment Management, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) are among the sovereign wealth funds interested in securing an allocation, alongside major global asset managers and Indian institutions

The investor interest comes ahead of an IPO that is expected to become the largest in Indian market history. It also reflects growing international attention towards India’s telecom and digital economy, where large subscriber bases, expanding 5G adoption and new digital services are creating opportunities for long-term growth.

Global and Indian Financial Giants Eye Jio Shares

The list of interested investors includes some of the world's largest financial institutions. On the global side, Fidelity, Capital Group and BlackRock are among the names reported to be seeking an allocation. The interest also extends to technology-focused investment funds and family offices.

Domestic institutions are equally prominent. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), SBI Mutual Fund and HDFC Mutual Fund are among the Indian investors reported to be interested in participating in the offering.

The breadth of interest is significant because these investors assess companies across several factors, including growth potential, financial performance, market position and long-term returns. However, reported interest in the IPO should not be confused with confirmed share allocations or a completed public subscription. The final participation of individual investors will depend on the allocation process.

Jio IPO: Issue Size, Price Band and Timeline

Jio Platforms is preparing to raise approximately ₹30,200 crore through a fresh issue of shares. The reported price band is ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with the company’s valuation at the upper end estimated at around ₹10.3 lakh crore.

The public issue is scheduled to open on October 21 and close on October 23, 2026, while bidding by anchor investors is expected on October 19. At the proposed size, the offering would surpass Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,859-crore IPO in 2024, which currently holds the record for India's largest IPO.

The offering is structured as a fresh issue rather than an offer for sale by existing shareholders. This means the proceeds are intended to go to the company instead of being used to cash out existing investors.

Why Investors Are Watching Jio Platforms

Jio's appeal extends beyond its position in India's mobile telecommunications market. The company has developed a broad digital ecosystem encompassing mobile connectivity, broadband and other digital services.

Its scale provides access to a large customer base, while growing demand for high-speed connectivity and enterprise technology services could create additional opportunities. Investors are also watching how Jio converts its infrastructure investments into revenue and profitability as competition in the telecom sector evolves.

Another important consideration is the proposed use of IPO proceeds. Reports indicate that up to ₹27,500 crore will be directed towards prepaying borrowings at Reliance Jio Infocomm, with the balance intended for general corporate purposes. Reducing debt could lower financing costs and provide greater flexibility for future investment.

What the Strong Investor Interest Means

The reported ₹2.5 lakh crore in demand indications points to considerable institutional attention, but it does not guarantee that the IPO will deliver a particular listing price or post-listing return. Valuation, business performance, market conditions and the final allocation process will remain important considerations.

For India's capital markets, the offering represents a major test of institutional appetite for large technology and telecom businesses. A successful listing could also establish a fresh public-market benchmark for valuing digital infrastructure companies.

As the IPO approaches, investors will be watching the final offer details, subscription figures and the company's financial disclosures. The scale of interest has already made Jio Platforms one of the most closely watched market events of October 2026.
